The “Ohio Neonatal Nutritionists” is an organization of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists who have worked in or are working in one of the Level 3 or higher neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) in the state of Ohio. Board membership is limited to facilitate the function of the organization as a working group by maintaining a high level of responsibility and participation from each member and to allow meaningful and direct face-to-face interaction among all board members. Board membership is by invitation only and is decided through group consensus.
Criteria for maintaining board membership include:
1.) Qualifications: Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who has worked in or is working in one of the level 3 or higher NICUs in the state of Ohio AND is currently working in neonatal nutrition at least 16 hours per week in one of the following applications: in a clinical or administrative capacity in a NICU, in industry, in education, or in research. Persons with sales or marketing positions do not qualify for Board Membership.
2.) Attendance: attendance at least 3 out of 4 meetings over a two-year period is strongly encouraged to support the ongoing the involvement responsibilities of ONN; allowances are made for specific situations
3.) Participation: active participation in at least one of the following activities is expected:
a.) administrative functions such as facilitating meetings, recording minutes, raising funds, managing finances, arranging for meeting rooms, lodging and meals, arranging for speakers from outside ONN, etc.
b.) project responsibility for the website, publications, etc.
c.) timely contribution to projects, literature reviews, presentations, etc.
4.) Members who leave the state of Ohio but continue to meet all of the above criteria may request board membership. Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who work in NICUs may request or be invited to attend meetings as guests to allow participation for those who cannot attend meetings regularly.
5.) Emeritus status: A former ONN member, who is now retired, may continue to be a member of ONN in a non-voting capacity. Lodging, meals and automobile travel, (< 250 miles), will be supported.
